I removed a tick from my dog...

So yeah. Was just chilling on the couch gettin some sofa snuggles when I'm petting her and there's what I first assume is a small thick matte in her fur. Curses. I'll have to cut it out. So I keep petting her and I'm trying to figure out how big the matte is when I finally find it. I get a closer look. It's a damn tick. I had never seen one in real life prior to an hour ago. I ended up going to Walmart at 12:30 at night to get stuff to remove it, and my Walmart is not the greatest of places. Anyway, got it removed and saved just in case.

we are dog sitting at the moment and i've noticed a little lump on the dog's skin and i wonder if its a tick, but haven't given it too close a look yet. My husband thinks i'm jumping to the worst possible scenario.  when i try to get a closer look, the dog just runs away.  But maybe i should try harder

I don't even know how long it had been on her. It wasn't fat so hopefully not too long.
